Danse Macabre
![Picture](/uploads/1/2/6/1/1261627/1054211.jpg)
This unit explores the darker side of life. Danse Macabre literally translates as "dance of death" and texts in this theme share similar morbid attributes - concerned with death, dying and darkness. From the works or Edgar Allen Poe, to the more recent creepy tales of Roald Dahl, explore short stories that suggest more than they show. Look at how suspense is created in film, by looking at directors such as Hitchcock for inspiration.
At the end of this unit, you will write your own horror story with a twist.

In this unit we will study texts that are written from the perspective of outsiders. We will read the text Flowers for Algernon and look at how narrative voice is used to create a better understanding of a character.
You will also study a film text, and use this as the basis for your literary essay. You will study how film techniques are used to help the viewers understand character and theme.
